The Declaration of Brandependence

THE DECLARATION OF BRANDEPENDENCE

Last year my brilliant friend Bill Chidley started to publish some critical perspectives on the branding profession and creativity, and I kept making the most of the wise words and writings of Allen Adamson, Erich Joachimsthaler, David Martin, Mats Georgson, Paul Syng, Grigorii Bolotov, Brandy Brazell Obvintsev, and a few others. And then my other brilliant friend and former Philips client Thomas Marzano started to tell me about his writing of a Brand Constitution for the age of AI, which of course made me think about the United States Founding Documents.

And I thought … what if I relate it to the Brand Fundamentals that I’ve been yapping & harping about for years now? A Brand-functioning world should have Brand-related founding documents as well, and I planned for a July 4th publishing date - but then got sidetracked with a reflecting pool, a big arch, and a rebranding program for a Canadian lake.

Well, here I am, at last. Mr Jefferson and I thank you for reading, commenting, and sharing it as you see fit.
